Director Flight Operations

Overall Role Purpose

The Director of Flight Operations is responsible for the safe, compliant, and commercially optimized execution of all flight operations under the airline’s AOC, as part of the DHL Aviation global network. The role ensures alignment with CAA regulations, ICAO/IATA standards, and DHL Aviation operational requirements, delivering industry-leading safety, reliability, and cost efficiency while supporting DHL’s integrated air network.

Your Tasks:

• Ensure full compliance with AOC, BCAA regulations, ICAO/IATA SARPs, and DHL Aviation standards.
• Act as Nominated Post Holder Flight Operations, maintaining regulatory approval.
• Lead and continuously enhance:
• Safety Management System (SMS)
• Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS)
• Define and maintain SOPs, operating standards, and flight crew procedures.
• Deliver operational performance targets including:

1. On-Time Performance (OTP)
2. Schedule reliability
3. Crew productivity and utilization

• Align flight operations with DHL network requirements and hub strategy.
• Oversee flight crew recruitment, training, checking, and performance management.
• Ensure effective incident response via Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
• Drive digitalisation initiatives (FDM, EFB, crew systems, operational analytics).
• Contribute to fleet planning, network development, and long‑term strategy.
• Support DHL sustainability targets through operational efficiency initiatives.

Your Profile:

• Valid Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL).
• Extensive command experience (wide‑body cargo preferred).
• Minimum 12–15 years flight experience and senior operational leadership.
• Regulatory approval as Post Holder Flight Operations.
• Strong knowledge of air law and regulatory frameworks.
• Aircraft systems and airline operations.
• Safety management and risk assessment.
• Proven leadership in a complex, multi‑base airline environment.
• Strong commercial and operational acumen.
• Experience with IOSA audits and regulatory oversight.
