Merchant Acquiring Team Leader

We have an urgent requirement for   Merchant Acquiring Team Leader   for our banking client in Bahrain

The job holder is responsible for  managing Merchant Acquiring  related product & sales initiatives in order to drive business growth. This includes defining the product vision, securing strategic partnerships, negotiating contracts, working closely with internal stakeholders to develop and execute sales initiatives, build strong relationships with key decision-makers, and provide comprehensive solutions to meet the needs of merchants

Key Responsibilities

Product and Sales Initiative

§ Responsible for managing the Merchant acquiring products roadmap and executing product strategy.

§ Monitor and manage product performance proactively to identify opportunities.

§ Manage the process of driving action throughout the organization to bring Merchant Acquiring products to market and effectively plan and execute product launches.

§ Manage the process of identifying and targeting potential merchants for Merchant Acquiring, with a specific focus on strategic industries and market segments.

§ Manage the process of developing and implementing robust sales initiatives to achieve revenue, sales targets, and business objectives through market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive positioning, and potential sales opportunities.

§ Prepare a strong sales pipeline list and manage the end-to-end sales process, from lead generation to deal closure.

§ Conduct regular business reviews with key accounts to assess performance, identify upselling opportunities, and address any issues or concerns.

§ Manage the process of tracking and analysing sales performance metrics, such as revenue, commission rates, and market share. Additionally, provide regular reports to the Head of the unit.

§ Prepare daily / weekly/monthly reports to ensure that the productivity and performance are in line with the set target. 

§ Lead negotiations with merchants to secure favourable contract terms and conditions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and legal requirements.

§ Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory standards, industry best practices, and internal policies.

Relationship Building:

§ Manage the process of cultivating and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and merchants, including the merchant’s front-line staff.

§ Manage the process of understanding merchants and providing consultative solutions to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty Collaborate with internal teams such as product development and marketing, to deliver solutions that meet merchant requirements.

People Management Responsibilities

• Define goals and key performance indicators for each member of the team and ensure effective implementation of the performance management process.

§ Develop talent within the team by providing guidance and coaching to achieve the defined goals.

Key Performance Indicator:

· Sales target, Performance, and efficiency.

· The Relationship levels and complaints handling.

· Reporting and communication

Mandatory Skill Sets & Qualifications



§ Bachelor’s degree in business, banking, finance, accounting or any related discipline is required.

§ Master’s degree in business, banking, finance, accounting or any related discipline is preferred.

§ Minimum 4-7 years of practical experience in a bank or same or similar function.

Skill and Competencies

· Proven track record of success in sales.

· Strong knowledge of the payment ecosystem, and understanding of the payments industry including acquiring business, card networks, and payment technologies. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
